Man Wanted for Fatal October Shooting in the Greater Fifth Ward Captured in Indiana

HOUSTON, TX – Jose Guadalupe Amaya Martinez, 47, has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 55-year-old Ramon Martinez Linares on October 25 at 3534 Russell Street in the Greater Fifth Ward area. Martinez is charged with murder in the 497th Criminal District Court.

According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective J. Wallschlaeger, patrol officers responding to a 2:20 a.m. shooting call found the victim with a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Investigators learned the victim had been involved in an altercation with another male, during which Martinez shot him before fleeing. Members of the Indiana FBI Gang Response Investigative Team arrested Martinez on November 1. He is currently in the custody of the Lake County Sheriff’s Detention Center in Gary, Indiana.
