Man Shoots Brother to Death in Austin, Arrested for First-Degree Murder

On Friday, June 6, 2025, at approximately 10:28 p.m., Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the 9800 block of Halifax Drive after a 9-1-1 call for help. Upon arrival, EMTs found 36-year-old Warren Stewart on the ground with a gunshot wound. Austin Police officers were called to the scene after the caller, later identified as 31-year-old Tevin Stewart, admitted to shooting Warren.

Warren Stewart was pronounced dead at 11:09 p.m. Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists arrived to investigate and interview witnesses. The two men, brothers living together, were involved in the fatal shooting.

Tevin Stewart was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. This is Austin’s 28th homicide of 2025.
