Man Sentenced to 40 Years for Murder of DoorDash Driver in Round Rock

A Williamson County man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the 2023 murder of Shawn Joseph, a 30-year-old DoorDash driver who disappeared while making deliveries in Round Rock.
Royce Loggins, 31, pleaded guilty this week to the killing, bringing closure to a case that began nearly two years ago.
On October 2023, officers found Joseph’s vehicle abandoned in a remote section of the Walmart parking lot on East Palm Valley Boulevard. Blood and personal belongings were discovered near the car, which was registered to Joseph’s mother. She told police her son had borrowed the vehicle the night before for deliveries and never returned.
Investigators used digital evidence, surveillance video, and license plate recognition technology to identify Loggins, an associate of Joseph, as a suspect. He was later arrested at a Haltom City hotel with two firearms and cleaning supplies in his possession. One of the weapons was later confirmed to be the murder weapon.
Further analysis of electronic data led law enforcement to a rural area in Milam County, where Joseph’s body was discovered. An autopsy determined he had died from a single gunshot wound to the head.
“We know nothing can fully heal the pain Shawn’s family carries, but we hope this resolution offers them some comfort and closure,” said Police Chief Allen Banks.
Authorities credited the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office and multiple law enforcement partners for their role in securing the conviction.
