Man Inside Apartment Shoots Robbery Suspect in Houston

Houston police are currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at 5610 Maxwell Street in the Gulfgate Riverview/Pine Valley area around 1 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024.

The victim, a 25-year-old male, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds at the scene. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is withholding the identity pending notification to family members.

Responding to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex, HPD patrol officers discovered the male victim outside an apartment. Houston Fire Department paramedics, upon arrival, declared him deceased.

Witnesses reported that the deceased male, along with an unidentified female, allegedly robbed another woman at gunpoint outside an apartment. A male acquaintance of the robbery victim, who was inside the apartment, became aware of the situation, confronted the suspects with a firearm, and exchanged gunfire. The male suspect sustained gunshot wounds, and no additional injuries were reported.

The female suspect fled the scene, prompting an ongoing investigation.
