Man in Mental Health Crisis Rescued from Water Tower in Weslaco

On Sunday, June 1, 2025, at approximately 8:52 p.m., officers from the Weslaco Police Department responded to a report of a male experiencing a mental health crisis near Rodriguez Park.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the individual atop the water tower and requested assistance from the Weslaco Fire Department for a high-angle rescue. The man, who was unable to descend on his own, was safely rescued and transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
The operation involved support from multiple agencies, including the Mercedes Fire Department Drone Team, Pharr Fire Department, McAllen Fire Department, DPS Air Unit, Alamo Police Department Drone Team, and Mission Police Department Drone Team.
