HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Detectives with Constable Mark Herman’s High Tech Crimes Unit have arrested 21-year-old Eduardo Vargas after an investigation into online impersonation and the unauthorized distribution of intimate content.

The case began when a complainant filed a report with the Patrol Division, stating that a known suspect had created multiple fake social media accounts using her name and likeness to publicly share intimate photos and videos without her consent.

Through a detailed digital investigation, detectives identified Eduardo Vargas as the suspect responsible for creating the accounts and distributing the visual material.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted two felony charges against Vargas: Online Impersonation and Unlawful Disclosure or Promotion of Intimate Visual Material.

Eduardo Vargas has been arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. He is currently out on a $30,000.00 bond as the legal process continues.

“We remain deeply committed to protecting our community from the evolving threats of digital crime. Our High Tech Crimes Unit continues to grow in expertise and resources to ensure that those who exploit others online are held fully accountable,” stated Constable Mark Herman.
