Man Charged With Murder After Deadly Beating in Cloverleaf

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A 30-year-old man has been charged with murder following a deadly beating Wednesday night in the Cloverleaf area of East Harris County, authorities said.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched February 11th at around 8:00 pm to the 1100 block of Freeport in response to a reported physical fight. When deputies arrived, they found a man unconscious after what officials described as a severe beating.

Deputies began lifesaving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived and continued treatment. The victim, identified as 44-year-old Oscar Garcia, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Responding deputies detained the suspect, identified as Florentino Ipina, 30, at the scene.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said homicide detectives conducted the follow-up investigation. Ipina was charged with murder in Garcia’s death and booked into the Harris County Jail.
