Man Charged with Murder After Bacliff Mother Dies from Fentanyl Overdose

A 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to the fentanyl overdose death of a young mother in Bacliff earlier this year, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office announced.
On May 13, 2025, deputies responded to a residence in Bacliff where 26-year-old Crista Carlin was found unresponsive by her 5-year-old son. Carlin was later pronounced deceased. A toxicology report confirmed the presence of fentanyl-laced narcotics in her system.
An investigation by the Major Crimes Unit led to the identification of Seth Harris as the individual who allegedly distributed the drugs to Carlin. The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges of Murder and Tampering with Evidence against Harris. His total bond was set at $350,000.
On July 7, 2025, the Galveston County SWAT Team executed an arrest warrant at the WoodSpring Suites Hotel, located at 11444 32nd Ave N in Texas City. Following the arrest, detectives obtained a search warrant for Harris’s hotel room, where they seized additional narcotics.
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office emphasized its ongoing commitment to targeting individuals involved in the distribution of fentanyl and similar drugs.
