Man Charged with Capital Murder in Fatal November Shooting of Teen in West Houston

Houston police have announced the arrest and charging of Raheim Bushnell Davalos, 21, with capital murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Jose Rodriguez on November 30, 2024, at 6900 Caddo Lake Lane.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives N. Henderson and L. Patterson reported that officers responded to a shooting at the specified address and found an unresponsive male, later identified as Rodriguez, lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced Rodriguez deceased at the scene.

Investigators learned that Rodriguez had met with individuals driving a dark-colored SUV. During the interaction, suspect(s) exited the vehicle and opened fire on Rodriguez, striking him multiple times. Rodriguez returned fire towards the suspect(s) and their vehicle. A surveillance photo of the suspect’s vehicle was released to the public in December 2024.

Further investigation ultimately identified Bushnell Davalos as the suspect in this incident. He was subsequently charged in April and arrested by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force. He is now held in the 182nd State District Court on the capital murder charge.
