Man Arrested After Kicking in Door, Attempting Burglary in Spring

SPRING, Texas – A man was arrested after deputies say he forced his way into a home and attempted to steal items in Spring. 911 dispatch received the call reporting a break-in in progress.

On Monday, March 16, 2026, Harris County deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to a reported burglary in the 4700 block of Cypressdale Drive.

When deputies arrived, they located a man walking away from the residence. He was detained and identified as 50-year-old Shane Gay.

Investigators reviewed video surveillance, which showed the suspect kicking in the back door to gain entry into the home. Once inside, authorities said he attempted to steal a set of car keys.

Gay was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Harris County Jail.

He has been charged with Burglary of a Habitation. His bond was set at $80,000 by the 174th District Court.
