Man Arrested After Firing Shots from Sunroof on US-79 in Williamson County; ICE Detains Other Occupants of Vehicle

TAYLOR, TX – A 24-year-old man is being held without bond following a dangerous shooting incident on a Williamson County highway. Benjamin Figuerebo Tortolero was arrested Monday morning, January 12, 2026, after deputies witnessed gunfire coming from a moving vehicle.
The incident began in the area of US-79 and CR 110, where multiple callers reported seeing occupants of a vehicle firing a weapon through a sunroof.
Caught in the Act
A responding Williamson County deputy located the suspect vehicle and personally observed an occupant firing a handgun into the air through the sunroof while the car was in motion.
The deputy initiated a high-risk traffic stop, successfully pulling the vehicle over within the city limits of Taylor, Texas. Upon searching the vehicle and the individuals inside, authorities discovered a firearm and illegal narcotics.
Charges and ICE Involvement
Benjamin Figuerebo Tortolero (born 09/13/2001) was taken into custody and faces a series of charges:
- Disorderly Conduct – Display of a Firearm
- Unlawful Carry of a Weapon
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
In addition to the local charges, officials confirmed that Figuerebo Tortolero is being held on an ICE detainer. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents responded to the scene and, following an on-site investigation, detained the other three occupants of the vehicle.
