Man Arrested After Armed Car Robbery at Austin Dealership

Kaynin Jackson, 31, was arrested on February 26, 2025, after an armed robbery at Capital Chevrolet.

At approximately 5:00 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a report of an aggravated robbery at the dealership, located in the 6200 block of S IH-35 Frontage Road. The suspect, Jackson, brandished a handgun and stole a new Chevrolet Equinox.

APD patrol, air unit, robbery unit, and Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF) members responded to the scene. Within 45 minutes, APD tracked the stolen vehicle to a transit station in East Austin. VCTF officers then followed the vehicle to a Walmart at 710 East Ben White Service Road Westbound, where Jackson was arrested without incident.

A search of the stolen vehicle revealed a handwritten robbery note, believed to be intended for a bank robbery.

Jackson was apprehended within an hour and a half of the initial 911 call.
