Major Multi-Agency Warrants Roundup Nabs 80 Violent Fugitives in Harris County

HOUSTON, Texas – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), in coordination with several federal and state partners, today announced the successful results of a weeklong warrants roundup targeting violent fugitives, leading to 80 arrests and the clearance of 103 warrants.

The massive operation, which included the FBI, the DEA Houston Division, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), focused on suspects wanted for aggravated robbery, sexual assault, and crimes against children.

Operation Results

The warrants cleared during the operation included:

  • 96 Felony Warrants
  • 53 Warrants involving crimes against children.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stressed the operation’s importance: “These arrests will not erase the harm done, but they stop further violence and bring our community one step closer to healing. To every survivor: your courage guides this work, and we remain committed to protecting you and supporting you.”

Significant Arrests

Serial Sexual Assault Suspect: Joshua Aaron Gomez

One of the most significant arrests involved Joshua Aaron Gomez, 43, who is accused of a years-long pattern of sexual assaults and indecent offenses across multiple Texas counties.

  • To date, 13 women have come forward.
  • The Violent Persons Warrants Task Force located and took Gomez into custody without incident at his home in Katy.
  • Felony sexual assault charges have been filed in Hidalgo County and Harris County, with additional offenses still under investigation.

Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child: Roberto Arnaldo Vasquez III

Investigators successfully pursued an open aggravated sexual assault of a child warrant for Roberto Arnaldo Vasquez III, who is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a young girl between 2020 and 2021.

  • DPS special agents and HCSO’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) tracked Vasquez to a home in the Cloverleaf area of eastern Harris County, where he was taken into custody on November 17.

Extradition of Former Teacher Accused of Abusing Students: Wilfred Sequeiros

A major coordination effort resulted in the extradition of Wilfred Sequeiros, a former elementary school teacher and soccer coach with Klein ISD and Houston ISD.

  • Sequeiros is accused of sexually and physically assaulting at least seven children between the ages of 7 and 10 from 2014 to 2019.
  • The HCSO and the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force (GCVOTF) located Sequeiros in Peru.
  • The U.S. Marshals Service worked with the Peruvian government to coordinate his extradition back to the U.S.

Sheriff Gonzalez thanked the federal and state partners for their collaboration, asserting the commitment to protecting victims and holding violent offenders accountable.
