A Montgomery County jury sentenced a child predator to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Monday, April 21, 2025, following days of emotional testimony. The verdict, delivered in the 9th District Court with Judge Phil Grant presiding, underscores the county’s commitment to protecting children and holding offenders fully accountable.

Prosecutors Laura Bond and Erin Delano presented testimony from 11 witnesses, including law enforcement, medical professionals, forensic experts, family members, and the courageous child victim. Splendora Police Department officers conducted a swift investigation after the abuse was reported, leading to the defendant’s arrest.

The victim bravely recounted the ongoing abuse she endured. During the punishment phase, prosecutors presented the defendant’s prior convictions for Assault Family Violence, Terroristic Threat, and Felony Theft. The jury also heard powerful testimony from the victim and her family, detailing the lasting emotional and psychological impact of the abuse.

Given the severity of the offense, the defendant faced a sentencing range of 25 years to life in prison. The jury swiftly returned a sentence of life in prison, ensuring the offender will never be eligible for parole under Texas law.

District Attorney Brett Ligon stated, “This victim’s courage stopped a predator. The jury’s verdict makes one thing clear: in Montgomery County, we protect our children, and predators pay with their freedom.” Assistant District Attorney Laura Bond added, “This verdict sends a clear message: children will be heard, believed, and protected. Her courage brought justice, and this life sentence ensures he can never harm another child again.”
