Liberty County Reserve Deputy Arrested in College Station

College Station, Texas – A reserve deputy with Liberty County Constable Precinct 4 was arrested early Saturday morning after police say he was intoxicated and carrying a loaded firearm at a College Station bar.
Just after midnight on November 1, officers with the College Station Police Department were called to a Northgate bar after reports that a man was flashing a badge and claiming to be an undercover cop. When officers arrived, they found Jared Oliver, a reserve deputy, sitting at a booth drinking with a woman.
Police said Oliver told them, “I’m a cop! I do. I’m a police officer,” when asked if he had a gun. Officers recovered a loaded handgun from him that contained 15 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber. Also found was a silver star badge.
According to the arrest report, Oliver appeared visibly intoxicated, was unable to recall how much he had been drinking, and refused field sobriety tests. His wife later told police he had consumed several mixed drinks and shots since about 9 p.m.
Bar staff said Oliver had been flashing his badge throughout the night and making other patrons uncomfortable. He was arrested for Public Intoxication and Unlawful Carry of a Weapon, as he was off duty, not on his own property, and did not have the establishment’s consent to carry a firearm on the premises.
Records show Oliver was sworn in as a Liberty County reserve deputy in April 2025.
