Liberty County Repeat Offender Arrested in Stolen Vehicle in Cypress Station

In a recent incident on December 31, 2023, deputies from Harris County Constable Mark Herman’s Office conducted a routine traffic stop in the 1400 block of Cypress Station Dr. The driver, identified as 41-year-old Sherman Jerome McKinney Jr. from Cleveland, Texas, was found to be operating a vehicle reported stolen to the College Station Police Department.

Following further investigation, McKinney was arrested and subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail. He now faces charges of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. As of now, specific details about his bond and court proceedings are not available.

McKinney’s history includes multiple arrests in Liberty County, involving charges related to Theft, Drugs, Prohibitive Substance in a Corrections Facility, DWI, Evading Arrest, Criminal Trespass, Terroristic Threat, and Auto Theft. Notably, on August 25, 2023, McKinney was arrested for Criminal Trespass and assaulted a police officer during the incident. At the time, he was already out on bond from a 2022 arrest for drug possession. After serving five days in jail, he was released.

On September 1, 2023, McKinney faced another arrest, this time by Cleveland Police Officers for Criminal Trespass. His bond was set at $1,500, and he managed to secure his release from jail after spending four days in custody.
