League City Man Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run

LEAGUE CITY, Texas—A League City man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian earlier this week.
James Collins Jr., 62, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with Collision Involving Death. His bond has been set at $250,000.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 16, at approximately 9:40 p.m. when League City Police officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 3300 block of W. Main Street. The victim, an adult male, was found in the roadway and was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries on Wednesday.
An investigation revealed the victim was struck by two vehicles. The driver of the second vehicle remained on the scene and cooperated with police. However, the driver of the first vehicle, a late-model gray Toyota Tundra, fled the scene without stopping to render aid.
Detectives were able to identify Collins as the driver of the Toyota Tundra and took him into custody without incident. The case remains under investigation.
Anyone with information, including video footage, of the collision or the victim in the area prior to the crash is asked to contact Detective Thomas at 281-554-1884.
