La Porte Man Arrested After Firing Gun in Domestic Disturbance; SWAT Responded

LA PORTE, TX — A La Porte man is in custody after allegedly firing a handgun at two people during a domestic disturbance Thursday evening, prompting a SWAT response.

On September 18, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., La Porte Police officers responded to the 11600 block of N. P Street after receiving reports of shots fired during a disturbance.

Investigators determined that the suspect, Christopher Clinton Hinds, fired a handgun at two adults outside a residence before retreating inside. No injuries were reported.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges of two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon against Hinds.

When Hinds refused to exit the home, officers established a perimeter and called in the Bay Area Regional SWAT team, comprised of members from both La Porte and Baytown police departments. With additional assistance from the Deer Park Police Department and Texas DPS air support, SWAT operators took Hinds into custody without incident.

Hinds was transported to the La Porte Jail for processing and is awaiting bond before transfer to the Harris County Jail.

The La Porte Police Department thanked its law enforcement partners for their quick response and residents for their cooperation during the incident.
