Weapon seized

A juvenile student at Galena Park High School has been charged with a felony after a .22 caliber rifle was discovered in their vehicle during a K-9 search conducted by a Harris County Precinct 2 deputy.

The incident occurred in the student parking lot when K-9 Zeus alerted on a parked vehicle during an open-air sniff. A search of the vehicle revealed the firearm, leading to the student being charged with Places Weapons Prohibited, a felony offense.

The Galena Park Independent School District sent a letter to parents addressing the situation. In the message, Principal Juan C. Ramirez emphasized the district’s commitment to safety and noted that disciplinary actions would be taken in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.

Due to federal student privacy laws, no further details about the student were released. The letter reassured families that school administrators and law enforcement responded appropriately and that the situation was under control.

Parents with questions were encouraged to contact the school administration directly at (832) 386-2800.
