Juvenile Groups Exchange Gunfire Outside Beaumont Theater, One Injured

Beaumont, TX — Beaumont police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured after a disturbance involving groups of juveniles outside a movie theater Sunday night.
Officers with the Beaumont Police Department responded around 9:33 p.m. on March 8, 2026, to reports of shots fired near 3865 IH-10, in the parking lot area near Waffle House and Cinemark Tinseltown.
When officers arrived, they encountered what police described as a chaotic scene involving a large group of juveniles gathered in the area.
During the investigation, officers learned that two groups of juveniles had reportedly been asked to leave the movie theater located at 3855 IH-10 South. Shortly after leaving the theater, a disturbance broke out in the parking lot.
Investigators believe individuals from both groups began firing weapons at each other during the confrontation.
One person was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Because early reports suggested a possible suspect may have entered the theater, officers quickly cleared the Cinemark Tinseltown building as a precaution to ensure public safety.
Detectives processed the scene and collected evidence, but investigators say they have received limited cooperation from people who were present during the incident.
Police are asking anyone who was in the area, including parents whose children may have been present, to come forward with information. Investigators are also asking the public to report any videos captured on cell phones, surveillance cameras, or circulating on social media.
Authorities say the shooting is part of a concerning trend involving unsupervised juveniles gathering late at night in the area.
According to police, officers have responded to several incidents over the past week involving people between the ages of 15 and 20, including shootings, deadly conduct investigations, police evasion incidents and individuals found with firearms and masks.
The Beaumont Police Department is urging parents and guardians to know where their children are, who they are with and what they are doing, warning that large unsupervised gatherings can quickly escalate into dangerous situations.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Beaumont Police Department at 409-832-1234 or submit a tip through Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers.
