Intoxicated Driver Charged After Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Crash on FM 1960

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – On August 8, 2025, deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to an auto-pedestrian crash in the 3100 block of FM 1960 Road.

Deputies found a male victim deceased in the roadway and a female victim suffering from serious injuries. Investigators determined that a pickup truck traveling westbound at a high rate of speed veered off the roadway and struck both pedestrians as they walked along the shoulder.

The driver fled the scene, continuing for several miles until his vehicle became inoperable. He then contacted 911, admitting to striking the victims.

Deputies located the driver, identified as 28-year-old Jonathan Rodriguez, who showed multiple signs of intoxication. After conducting Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, deputies determined he was intoxicated. A blood sample was taken, with results pending.

Rodriguez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail on charges of Intoxication Manslaughter, Intoxication Assault, and Failure to Stop and Render Aid. His bond was set at $750,000 out of the 185th District Court.
