Intense Encounter: Fulshear Police Stop Wrong Vehicle After Armed Robbery Report

FULSHEAR, Texas — A high-risk traffic stop conducted after a reported armed robbery at a gas station led to the detention of an uninvolved driver and her children before officers determined the vehicle was not connected to the crime, authorities said.

The incident began April 3, 2026, at approximately 1:57 p.m., when Fulshear Police were dispatched to a reported robbery at the Shell gas station in the 30400 block of FM 1093. Initial information indicated two masked men, believed to be armed, broke a window and took a large amount of money before fleeing in a white Nissan.

Within moments of receiving the call, officers located a white Nissan near the area and conducted a high-risk felony traffic stop based on the vehicle’s similarity to the suspect description and its proximity to the reported crime.

Police detained the driver, identified as Kathleen Booker. Her stepdaughter was in the front passenger seat, and her young daughter was seated in the back. Authorities said the driver was initially reluctant to comply with commands, prolonging the stop.

Officers followed standard procedures for a felony stop, including drawing their firearms, but officials said no weapons were pointed at the occupants and no force was used.

As additional information became available, officers determined the vehicle was not involved in the robbery. The situation was de-escalated, and the occupants were released at the scene. Police said officers explained the circumstances, issued an apology, and provided information on how to file a complaint.

The following day, the driver’s husband met with a department supervisor, who reviewed the incident and explained the actions taken. Officials said the husband declined to file a complaint.

Police said the stop was based on a reasonable match to the suspect vehicle description and the urgency of the reported crime. Authorities emphasized that officers must often make rapid decisions based on limited and evolving information.

The investigation into the reported robbery remains ongoing.
