Inmate Escapes Police Custody at League City Hospital

Desmond Taylor, a 37-year-old inmate from Houston, escaped from police custody while receiving medical treatment at UTMB Victory Lakes in League City. Taylor was in custody of the League City Police Department following his arrest on August 9, 2024, for Assault Family Violence with Previous Convictions. He was booked into the League City Jail and later transported to UTMB Victory Lakes for medical evaluation due to a complaint.

At approximately 1:02 a.m. on August 11, 2024, Taylor escaped from a hospital room. The circumstances of his escape are under investigation. Despite immediate searches by LCPD officers and assistance from surrounding agencies, Taylor remains at large. His hospital gown was found outside the building.

Taylor is described as a 37-year-old Black male, standing 6’2″ and weighing about 160 lbs. He has short black hair, brown eyes, and dark complexion. At the time of escape, he would have been wearing only socks and underwear. A booking photo from August 9, 2024, is attached.

UPDATE: At approximately 11:02 AM on August 11, 2024, League City Police Officers located and arrested Desmond Taylor in the 1500 block of W League City Pkwy near S Gulf Fwy. After an extensive search by LCPD and surrounding agencies, Taylor was taken back into custody without incident.
