Inmate Dies After Medical Emergency at Harris County Jail

Eric Jackson, 23, died at the Harris County Jail on Monday, February 24, 2025, after suffering an apparent medical emergency in his cellblock.

Jackson was taken to the jail’s clinic, where he was pronounced dead at 5:29 a.m. Preliminary information indicates he had no apparent significant injuries.

The circumstances surrounding Jackson’s death are under investigation by multiple agencies, including:

Jackson had been in the Harris County Jail for 317 days on a felony charge of aggravated assault of a family member. His case was adjudicated on January 24, 2025, when he received deferred adjudication of guilt and was ordered to be transferred to a state drug treatment facility. He was awaiting acceptance into a treatment facility at the time of his death.
