Illegal Gambling Operation Disguised as Pharmacy Shut Down in Northwest Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A business masquerading as a pharmacy in northwest Houston was shut down this week after an undercover investigation confirmed illegal gambling activity, resulting in one arrest and the seizure of thousands of dollars in suspected proceeds.
On January 14, 2026, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division of Harris County Constable Precinct 4, led by Mark Herman, received information about suspected illegal gambling at a business in the 10500 block of Cypress Creek Parkway.
Detectives conducted an undercover operation that confirmed illegal gambling was taking place inside the establishment, which was disguised as a pharmacy to avoid detection. Investigators then obtained and executed a search warrant at the location.
During the search, deputies seized more than $21,000 in suspected gambling proceeds, multiple illegal gambling devices, and documents supporting ongoing gambling operations, authorities said.
After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, investigators arrested 37-year-old Araceli Diaz, who was charged with possession of gambling devices and paraphernalia.
Constable Herman said illegal gambling operations often draw additional criminal activity and pose risks to public safety, noting that proceeds from such businesses are frequently used to support more serious criminal enterprises. He emphasized that these operations violate the peace and dignity of the State of Texas.
Authorities are encouraging the public to report suspected illegal gambling locations. Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling dispatch at 281-376-3472 or online through the Constable Precinct 4 Regulatory Enforcement Unit website.
