Houston Police Search for Murder Suspect in Sunnyside Apartment Complex Shooting

HOUSTON, TX — Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a woman charged in a fatal shooting at a Sunnyside area apartment complex early Sunday morning.
The shooting occurred around 12:45 a.m. on February 8 at the Wesley Square Apartments, located at 7402 Calhoun Road.
Investigators say 25-year-old Dasja Wilmore has been charged with murder in the 178th Criminal District Court. She is not currently in custody. A previously taken booking photo has been released by the Houston Police Department.
The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Asia Stewart.
According to HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Rodriguez and M. Cater, officers responded to a report of a shooting at the apartment complex. When they arrived, they learned the victim had already been transported by private vehicle to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
Detectives determined that several individuals were gathered in the apartment complex parking lot when a physical altercation broke out involving multiple women. Investigators say Stewart stepped in to assist a friend during the fight. At some point, Wilmore allegedly intervened and began fighting with Stewart before pulling out a pistol and shooting her multiple times.
Wilmore was reportedly known to several people at the scene. After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, detectives filed a murder charge.
Anyone with information about Wilmore’s whereabouts or details related to the case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
