Houston Police Release Photos of Suspect in Fatal Metro Bus Shooting

Houston police are searching for a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at 2200 West Bellfort Avenue around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 23.

The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5’10” to 6’0″ tall, between 18 and 25 years old, with locs hairstyle. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black t-shirt, blue shorts, and carrying a crossbody bag. Surveillance photos of the suspect have been released by investigators.

According to HPD Homicide Division Detectives S. Chettry and H. Martinez, officers with HPD and the Metro Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at the location. The victim was found on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound and transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and victim had been involved in an argument while riding a Metro bus. During the confrontation, the suspect pulled a firearm and shot the victim.

The identity of the deceased is pending notification of next of kin by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
