Houston Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Southwest Freeway
Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 6100 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) around 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday (June 12). The identity of the deceased male, 34, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
According to HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer T. Smith, the pedestrian ran across the northbound lanes of the freeway and then attempted to cross the southbound lanes when he was struck by an orange Jeep Wrangler. Paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep, a 47-year-old male, stopped and remained at the scene. He was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
