Houston Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Shooting of Man on West Bellfort Ave

Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 8300 West Bellfort Ave in southwest Houston about 6:50 p.m. on August 26.

The suspect, Jacque Jamar Malveaux, 41, is charged with murder and unlawful possession of a firearm in the 180th Criminal District Court.

The victim has been identified as Shawn Malveaux, 52.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives D. Higgs and B. Stephens reported that officers responded to a shooting call at the address and found the male victim lying on the ground. He had been shot multiple times and was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The suspect was initially described as a Hispanic male wearing a mask, white t-shirt, and black shorts, fleeing on foot eastbound on W. Bellfort. With assistance from the Houston Metro Police Department, the suspect was identified as Jacque Malveaux, the victim’s nephew. HPD’s Southeast Patrol Tactical Unit, with support from the HPD South Gessner Tactical Unit, located and arrested Malveaux without incident on Monday, September 8.
