HOUSTON, Texas – A 46-year-old Houston man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing thousands of images of child pornography, authorities announced today.

Mark Warner McCarthy entered guilty pleas to two first-degree felony charges of possession of child pornography in Harris County court. He was sentenced to two concurrent 15-year prison terms.

The case was investigated by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit of the Harris County Constable Precinct One, under Constable Alan Rosen.

“Justice has been served,” Constable Rosen said in a statement. “And to any other predators out there, be warned: we will find you and you will be arrested.”

Upon his release from prison, McCarthy will be required to register as a sex offender for life.

Constable Rosen praised the work of his ICAC unit and thanked Assistant District Attorney Mitchell Sanchez for his role in securing the conviction.

“Great work by our Internet Crimes Against Children unit,” Rosen added. “We’d also like to thank Asst. District Attorney Mitchell Sanchez for his work in delivering justice.”

The Harris County Constable Precinct One’s ICAC unit continues to investigate cases involving the exploitation of children. Anyone with tips is encouraged to contact the unit at 713-222-4929.
