Houston Man Indicted for Fentanyl Delivery in 2023 Friendswood Teen’s Death
Manuel Trevino

FRIENDSWOOD, TX – A Harris County grand jury has indicted Manuel Trevino, 26, of Houston, on a charge of Delivery of a Controlled Substance in connection with the fentanyl-related death of a 17-year-old girl in 2023.

The Friendswood Police Department began its investigation on August 18, 2023, after responding to an unresponsive teen at a residence in the 5100 block of Shady Oaks Lane. Medical personnel pronounced her deceased at the scene. The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office determined her cause of death was the combined toxic effects of multiple substances, including fentanyl.

Investigators identified Trevino as the person who supplied the substance. On July 18, 2025, a grand jury indicted him for the charge. His bond was set at $5,000, and he is currently in the Harris County Jail.

Two weeks after the teen’s death, on September 1, 2023, the Texas Legislature passed House Bill 6, which allows murder charges to be filed against individuals who manufacture or deliver fentanyl that results in death.
