Houston Man Charged with Murder in Roommate’s Stabbing Death

HOUSTON—A Houston man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of his roommate last week.
James Olvera Jr., 29, is facing charges of murder and tampering with evidence in the death of David Carrion, 53.
The Houston Police Department (HPD) responded to a welfare check at a residence at 3015 Roe Drive on September 10 at approximately 10:15 a.m. Officers found Carrion unresponsive inside the home. Responding paramedics with the Houston Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.
An investigation by the HPD Homicide Division identified Olvera, who was Carrion’s roommate, as the suspect. Olvera was charged, arrested, and booked into the Harris County Jail on Tuesday, September 16.
