Houston Man Charged in Infant’s Death After Autopsy Reveals Blunt Force Trauma

Jamal Rayshun Porter, 28, has been arrested and charged with injury to a child in connection with the death of a three-month-old infant in October 2024.

On October 25, 2024, at approximately 9 p.m., Houston Police Department officers responded to a residence at 4078 Barberry Drive following a report of an unresponsive infant.

Porter and the child’s mother contacted 9-1-1. Paramedics transported the infant to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

An autopsy conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences revealed that the infant died from blunt force trauma.

Following an investigation by HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Barrow and J. Caten, and consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Porter was charged in connection with the infant’s death. He was arrested without incident on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
