Houston Man Arrested for Kidnapping, Injecting Aldine High School Student

HOUSTON, Texas—A Houston man with a criminal history spanning over a decade is in custody after allegedly injecting an unknown substance into a student and attempting to kidnap him near Aldine High School.
Ted Fleming, 41, was arrested and charged with kidnapping and failure to register as a sex offender following the October 1 incident near the school campus.
Details of the Incident
- The student was walking near a shopping center when Fleming allegedly grabbed him and injected him with an unidentified substance.
- Aldine ISD staff members observed the student “stumbling and walking off balance” before the suspect began pulling him away. A staff member recorded the incident on video and quickly called the Aldine ISD Police.
- Responding officers found the student unconscious and unresponsive. They were able to revive the student using Narcan and CPR. The student was stabilized by emergency medical personnel en route to the hospital.
- Fleming was located nearby and taken into custody without incident.
Suspect’s Criminal History
Prosecutors highlighted Fleming’s extensive criminal background, which includes more than 38 prior arrests for offenses such as deadly conduct, terroristic threats, indecent exposure, trespassing, and evading arrest.
Despite this long record, Crime Stoppers advocate Andy Kahan noted that Fleming has “never spent a single day in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice,” due to prior felony cases being dismissed as part of plea agreements.
Bond and Investigation
During Fleming’s first court appearance, the judge set his bond at $150,000. Prosecutors had requested a higher amount due to his background and “deep concern for public safety.”
Aldine ISD confirmed it has increased police patrols around Aldine High School and the surrounding areas. The investigation is ongoing.
