Houston Firefighters Rescue Residents from Two-Alarm Apartment Fire; Five Injured

On Thursday morning, October 30th, at 8:33 a.m., the Houston Fire Department responded to a large apartment fire at The Corridor at Westchase. When crews arrived, flames were already spreading rapidly through the building, and reports indicated several residents were still trapped inside.

Two people had already jumped from a second-floor window onto a piece of furniture below to escape the smoke and heat. Firefighters quickly deployed ladders and rescued two additional residents who were unable to get out on their own.

Strong winds fueled the flames, forcing firefighters to switch to a defensive strategy to keep the fire from spreading to nearby buildings. In total, more than 100 firefighters responded to the two-alarm blaze.

Five people, including one firefighter, were treated at the scene for various injuries. Two residents were taken to area hospitals for further evaluation.

The Houston Fire Department’s Arson Division is investigating to determine how and where the fire started.

HFD credited the quick work and teamwork of the responding crews from Stations 2, 6, 10, 11, 15, 21, 28, 33, 37, 42, 49, 51, 57, 60, 68, 69, 75, 76, 78, 82, 83, and 86 for saving lives during the intense operation.
