Honduran National Arrested for a Sexual Assault in Harris County, Smuggling During Texas Traffic Stop in Laredo

A traffic stop conducted by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) during Operation Lone Star (OLS) in Laredo led to the arrest of a Honduran national wanted for sexual assault in Harris County.
On February 12, 2025, at approximately 7:00 a.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2011 International truck tractor for a traffic violation on South Zapata Highway and Riverhill Loop. The driver and several passengers fled into the brush.
A multi-agency search resulted in the apprehension of seven illegal immigrants and the driver.
The driver, Junior Adalid Montoya-Alvarez, 49, a Honduran national with lawful permanent status, was arrested for smuggling of persons. Further investigation revealed that Montoya-Alvarez was also wanted out of Harris County for sexual assault.
The seven illegal immigrants, from Guatemala and Mexico, were referred to Border Patrol.
