Homicide Suspect Apprehended in Brazoria After Anonymous Tip

A multi-agency effort led to the swift arrest of Brandon Dwayne Stephens, a suspect wanted for murder by the El Campo Police Department. Stephens was taken into custody in Brazoria on Monday, June 30, 2025, after a tip led officers to his location.
Stephens was wanted in connection with a murder that occurred on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at an El Campo convenience store. Investigators believed Stephens had fled to Brazoria, where he had known associates and family.
At approximately 2:30 PM on Monday, the Brazoria Police Department received information regarding Stephens’ whereabouts. This was quickly followed by an anonymous tip at 2:50 PM, indicating Stephens was at a residence in the 700 block of Ghinaudo Road with several other individuals, and providing a detailed clothing description.
Chief Neal Longbotham and Officer Brittany Michalk of the Brazoria Police Department, supported by a Brazoria County Sheriff’s Deputy and Brazoria County Constables from Precinct 4, responded to the scene. Stephens was apprehended without incident and charged with First-Degree Felony Murder.
He was initially booked into the Brazoria City Jail before being transferred to the custody of Captain Arnold Terrazas of the El Campo Police Department, who is leading the homicide investigation.
