Homicide Investigation Launched Following Arrival of Shooting Victim at Houston Northwest Hospital

On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at approximately 6:30AM, Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide investigators responded to Houston Northwest Hospital, situated at 17299 Cali Drive, following reports of a homicide.

The incident unfolded earlier, around 1:00AM, when two masked individuals brought an adult black male to the hospital’s emergency room. The man had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. The masked individuals, who did not disclose their identities, departed the hospital premises in a silver Mazda bearing Illinois license plates.

Although briefly conscious, the victim refrained from divulging details regarding the incident to hospital staff before succumbing to his injuries following surgery.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies located the gray Mazda at a nearby apartment complex. Two individuals associated with the vehicle were detained and subsequently questioned by Homicide Investigators. However, they were later released.

Meanwhile, investigators conducted interviews with witnesses and scoured for security footage. Crime Scene deputies meticulously processed the area for evidence.

As of now, the investigation remains ongoing, with no identified suspects in the shooting. The deceased’s next of kin have been notified, and authorities continue to process evidence.
