Home Invasion Turns Deadly in Greenway Area; Narcotics Found Inside Unit

HOUSTON, Texas – Houston police say the fatal shooting of two men at an apartment complex in the 4000 block of Essex Lane in the Greenway/Upper Kirby area will be presented to a Harris County Grand Jury.
The identities of the deceased are pending confirmation by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Dudley and Detective K. Heaverlo, officers responded to a shooting call around 10 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they learned that a man inside one of the apartments fired at several armed suspects who had forced their way inside.
A witness told officers they saw multiple people attempting to break down the door before calling police. The man inside the apartment told investigators he had been tied up by the intruders but managed to free himself and return fire with a handgun. He was not injured.
One male was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department personnel. Another was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Officers found narcotics, weapons, and cash inside the apartment. Two adults have been charged with narcotics-related offenses.
After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, investigators determined the case will be referred to a Harris County Grand Jury.
