Harris County SWAT Safely Apprehends Barricaded Suspect with Drone Support

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A suspect was safely taken into custody early Wednesday morning after barricading himself inside an apartment, authorities said.

The incident occurred at Haverstock Hills Apartments in the 5600 block of Aldine Bender Drive (in the IAH/Airport area) on Tuesday night onto the early hours of Wednesday, December 31st. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Air Operations team assisted SWAT by providing both interior and exterior drone support. An interior drone was used to locate the suspect inside the apartment, giving officers real-time situational awareness while minimizing risk to deputies and others on scene.

The operation concluded without incident, demonstrating the effectiveness of drone technology in high-risk law enforcement situations, officials said. All units involved were praised for their coordination and professionalism.
