Harris County Deputy Fired, Indicted for Murder in 2025 Fatal Shooting

HOUSTON, Texas – A Harris County deputy has been terminated and indicted for murder in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in 2025.
On March 19, 2026, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Administrative Disciplinary Committee recommended the termination of Deputy Aileen Jimenez Barboza following an Internal Affairs investigation. The investigation found she violated multiple department policies related to the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Levincer Swanson.
Jimenez Barboza, who had been with the Sheriff’s Office since 2010, was placed on non-law enforcement duty immediately after the February 27, 2025 incident and remained in that role until the termination decision.
She has the right to appeal her termination under the civil service employment system.
Also on Thursday, a Harris County grand jury returned an indictment charging Jimenez Barboza with murder.
The Sheriff’s Office previously released body camera and other video footage from the incident in April 2025.
