Harris County Deputies Arrest Man for Assault After Striking Woman, Chasing Witness

Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with an unprovoked assault that occurred on June 11, 2025, in the 16400 block of El Camino Real.
At approximately 4:09 p.m., Sergeant M. Self of the Precinct 8 Constable’s Office was dispatched to an assault call. Upon arrival, he met with a female victim and a witness. They reported that while unloading plants from their vehicle, they observed a white male, later identified as Anthony Joseph Carignan, walking through the parking lot wearing a red backpack, black shirt, and dark jeans.
The victim stated that as she turned her back to reach into her vehicle, Carignan ran behind her and struck her behind the left ear and neck area, and on her left shoulder blade, causing her pain and discomfort. Immediately after, the suspect began running after the witness, who managed to evade him by running to the front of her vehicle. The victim and witness then lost sight of the suspect as he walked across the street.
Deputies A. Bullock and S. Ahmed arrived and spoke with a nearby business manager, who provided security footage of the assault. Sergeant M. Self observed a male matching the description walking through the parking lot of a business located in the 1000 block of Bay Area Boulevard.
Sergeant M. Self, along with Deputies A. Bullock and S. Ahmed, made contact with Carignan and safely detained him. A check of Carignan’s information revealed an active warrant through the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for “Criminal Mischief.” Carignan was transported back to the scene where he was positively identified by the victim and witness.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted the charge of Assault. Carignan was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center and booked without incident.
