Gunfight Erupts After Juvenile Suspects Fire on Houston Officers

On Saturday, February 1, 2025, at approximately 1:00 AM, Houston Police responded to a trespassing call at 8360 Park Place Blvd. Upon arrival, officers met with apartment management, who had identified two individuals inside a vacant unit using technology like the Nextdoor app.
Officers and management approached the apartment, and after knocking, management used their keys to enter. Inside, they encountered a suspect with a weapon. Officers retreated and took positions at both the front and rear of the apartment. As officers moved to the back, the suspects retreated toward the rear of the complex. One suspect then broke a window and both climbed out, immediately firing at officers. Officers returned fire.
During the exchange, one suspect, a 17-year-old male, was injured and transported to Hermann Memorial Hospital, requiring surgery for gunshot wounds to his upper body. A 15-year-old female suspect, who did not sustain any gunshot wounds but was injured from climbing out the window, was also taken into custody and sent to the hospital.
Both suspects are believed to be connected to multiple home invasions and violent crimes in Houston. Investigations are ongoing by the Special Investigations Unit, Internal Affairs, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. The two officers involved, one with 13 years of service and the other with 30 years, were unharmed and placed on administrative duty as per protocol during the investigation.
