Good Samaritan Rescues Driver and Infant from Submerged Vehicle in Dickinson Bayou

On Thursday night, January 1, 2026, at approximately 9:38 p.m., the Dickinson Police Department responded to a major accident in the 1100 block of E FM 517 Road, where a vehicle had crashed into Dickinson Bayou.
Before officers arrived, a good Samaritan, wishing to remain anonymous, bravely used a kayak to reach the submerged vehicle and safely remove the driver and an infant child.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed that neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in the accident. Dickinson EMS evaluated both occupants and found no injuries. The vehicle was later removed from the bayou without incident.
