Four Suspects Charged in Fatal June 2024 Shooting of Teen in Houston

Charges have been filed against four suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Nehemiah Lima and the wounding of a juvenile male that occurred at 7031 Moss Rose Street at approximately 1:45 a.m. on June 9, 2024.

The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Jared Edu Garcia, 18-year-old Brian Azahel Garcia, 21-year-old Jair Gael Garcia, and 26-year-old Francisco Jathziel Garcia-Juarez, are each charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 183rd State District Court.

According to Houston Police Department (HPD) Homicide Division Sergeant N. Miyako and Detective L. Gonzales:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the aforementioned residence and discovered two males with gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced one male, identified as Nehemiah Lima, deceased at the scene. The second male, who was 15 years old at the time of the incident, was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

Further investigation identified Jared Garcia, Brian Garcia, Jair Garcia, and Garcia-Juarez as suspects in the shooting. On May 7, investigators presented the case to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, and all four individuals were charged for their involvement.

Brian Garcia, Jair Garcia, and Juarez were already in custody on unrelated charges. On Thursday, May 8, Jared Garcia was apprehended by the HPD SWAT and Southeast Crime Suppression Teams.
