Fort Bend Transit Expands Demand Response Service to Needville Starting September 1, 2024

Fort Bend Transit (FBT) will launch an expanded Demand Response service in the Needville area on September 1, 2024. This new service aims to provide Needville residents with affordable and convenient transportation to Richmond and Rosenberg, where they can access shopping, medical facilities, and restaurants.

The expansion is made possible by a rural assistance grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). With this grant, FBT will deploy a dedicated bus for Needville residents, offering trips at $1.00 each way on a first-come, first-served basis.

Perri D’Armond, Director of Fort Bend Transit, expressed gratitude to TxDOT for the funding. “We are very excited to collaborate with the City of Needville to better support its citizens in need by providing greater access into Richmond and Rosenberg areas.”

Fort Bend County Commissioner Grady Prestage emphasized the significance of the expansion. “This initiative not only provides a vital connection to essential services and amenities but also strengthens the overall community by ensuring that everyone has access to affordable and reliable transportation.”
