Fatal Stabbing Incident on Congress Avenue in Austin Leads to Arrest of Suspect with Prior Criminal Record
On Sunday, December 10, 2023, at approximately 4:17 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a stabbing incident in the 600 block of Congress Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 41-year-old Jeffery Lewis, the victim, lying on the sidewalk with multiple stab wounds.
Lewis was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives from the Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Specialists were called to the scene to investigate. A witness at the location identified the suspect as 56-year-old Hilario Adrian, who was subsequently detained by the police.
Investigations revealed that Lewis and Adrian were engaged in a disturbance that escalated, resulting in Adrian stabbing the victim. Adrian later confessed to the detectives about his involvement in the incident.
Further scrutiny of Adrian’s background uncovered a significant criminal history with the Austin Police Department. At the time of the murder, Adrian was out on bond for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, stemming from an arrest in April 2023. Adrian had been released on bond in August 2023.
As a result of the recent incident, Adrian has been arrested and charged with 1st-degree felony murder.
