Fatal Stabbing Incident at North Austin 7-Eleven, Suspect At-Large

On Sunday, December 3, 2023, at around 8:33 p.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) received a call reporting a stabbing at the 7-Eleven situated in the 10800 block of Research Boulevard (southbound). Responding officers found 48-year-old Chad Barron inside the store, lying on the ground with an apparent knife wound.

Chad Barron was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, despite efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Detectives from the Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Specialists promptly arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough investigation. The inquiry revealed that Barron had been stabbed at a nearby intersection before entering the 7-Eleven and collapsing. The suspect, who remains at large, fled the area on foot immediately after the incident.
