Fatal Shooting Outside Main Street Business Under Grand Jury Review

A fatal shooting that occurred around 5:25 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, at 2220 Main Street in Houston will be referred to a Harris County grand jury for review.
According to Houston Police Department Homicide Division Detectives H. Montealegre-Cerrato and G. Rangel, patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting and found a man with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a business. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. His identity, a 40-year-old male, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident began when the deceased man approached another man, age 20, who was sitting in the parking lot. The older man reportedly grabbed the younger man’s belongings and pushed him. The 20-year-old then retrieved a firearm and fired multiple rounds, fatally striking the aggressor.
The shooter was not injured and has cooperated with investigators. After consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the case is being forwarded to a grand jury to determine any potential charges.
