Fatal Shooting at Harris County After-Hours Club; Victim Identified, Shooter Was Being Severely Beaten

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, December 22, 2024, at an after-hours club operating as “La Diabla,” located in the Airline Business Park at 130 Mitchell Road.
At approximately 4:15 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, they discovered the club had been locked, and patrons, including three gunshot victims and the suspected shooter, had been escorted out by the club operators before deputies arrived. The suspected shooter had been handcuffed and severely beaten.
Harris County Emergency Corps transported three of the victims to a nearby hospital. A fourth gunshot victim, transported by private vehicle to another hospital, was pronounced deceased. The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Anthony Muniz.
Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Crime Scene Units arrived to process the scene. Out of an estimated 50 patrons, only seven remained to provide statements, with the rest leaving before deputies arrived.
Preliminary findings indicate the shooting followed an altercation between several individuals. One man, allegedly being severely beaten, retrieved a pistol and fired, fatally wounding Muniz and injuring others. The alleged shooter remains hospitalized.
The case remains under investigation and will be referred to a Harris County Grand Jury. Authorities are also seeking information on the identity of the club’s operators, who fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Anyone with information about the incident or the operators of “La Diabla” is urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit at 713-274-9100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
